Book Stands & Holders
How to set a book stand to eye level
Most neck ache at a desk comes from looking down at a flat page. A stand fixes it, as long as it is set up right.

Start with your chair
Sit back so your hips touch the chair and your feet are flat. Every other setting depends on this posture, so get it right before you touch the stand.
Find your line of sight
Look straight ahead and relax. The top third of the page should land roughly where your eyes fall without tipping your chin. If you are using a laptop too, the stand goes beside it at the same height as the screen.
Pick the angle
On a notched stand like our metal or bamboo models, begin at the middle groove and move one step at a time. On the free-angle stand, open it until the page faces your eyes squarely: the page should look like a rectangle, not a trapezoid.
Clip the pages
Use both clips on thick books. On cookbooks, clip just the edges so you can still turn pages with a floury hand.
Check after ten minutes
If you notice yourself leaning in, raise the tilt or move the stand closer. Small tweaks matter more than any single perfect setting.
